Project developed in the first semester of RMIT - Master of Interior Design. The kitchen and the dining area were designed as part of Shepparton’s Nutritious Hub group project located adjacent to the intersection of Goulburn Valley Highway and Vaughan Street, which is strategically utilized by creating multiple access points to the building. These pathways intersect the ground floor, giving a glimpse of what this building has to offer by looking into the interiors through windows and voids, promoting curiosity.
The kitchen was designed with an open plan, incorporating natural materials to connect to the outdoors and create an inviting atmosphere. Activities such as cooking classes will create a bond amongst the community, where they can be inspired to incorporate healthy food into their diet and lifestyle. It will create an opportunity to learn recipes from different cultures and improve hospitality skills for potential jobs. This also affords a space to cater for special occasions and community festivals.
Healthy nutrition provides sustenance and growth, providing us with the energy to pursue what we love, and positively impacts our physical and mental health. Our project aims to promote healthy eating habits to support the wellness and wellbeing of Shepparton’s community and celebrate their diversity through food.
